NYC DJ / producer and Fool’s Gold co-founder Nick Catchdubs has spent a career sharing music, supporting artists and connecting the dots between scenes and generations. The encyclopedic good vibes that became his signature (“the best party DJ in the game” – Stereogum) first came to life as original music on 2015’s Smoke Machine LP, featuring an anything-goes guest list and highlights that continue to bubble everywhere from Broad City to Apple Watch commercials.

Nick’s latest album UFO blazes a more cosmic path. The attitude is still there, with big glowstick energy filtered through subway sounds and razor-edited, breakdance-ready chops; when vocals do pop up, courtesy of New York underground favorites like Nasty Nigel and Mr Muthafuckin eXquire, their subterranean bars feel right at home. But there’s also a surprising new gear of zoned out instrumentals and heady, re-animated synth loops added to the mix. Put it all together, and UFO is an enjoyably glitchy collection of Nick Type Beats: tune in, turn up, and blast off. Hope you grabbed one of the (now sold out) limited-edition white vinyl copies!

Along with his original music, Nick has remixed artists from Lizzo to Linkin Park, and created mixtapes with Wale (the acclaimed trio of 100 Miles And Running, Mixtape About Nothing and Back To The Feature), Mark Ronson, The Rub and his beloved alt-rock Radio Friendly Unit Shifter series presented by Mishka. Nick has DJed in clubs worldwide and performed at festivals including Lollapalooza, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Zoo, Firefly, HARD Fest, Holy Ship!, Fool’s Gold DAY OFF and Coachella’s Heineken House. Nick’s art, video and design work has graced projects for Converse, Topps, Mad Decent and countless Fool’s Gold releases, and his writing has appeared in The FADER Magazine (where he was an associate editor), including cover features on Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Jenny Lewis and other iconic characters.
